I recently attended the Success Business Women Group event, INSPIRE.
The theme was “Small Change: Big Impact.” There were bookend keynote speakers and four break out sessions, of which we got to choose two.
In my opinion (both personal & professional) the event was the perfect example of a small change with a big impact. I mean, I would typically still be sleeping on a Saturday morning at 8, but I bought the ticket and got my butt up to be there (small change). The presentations I attended were all beneficial and offered many suggestions for “small change - big impact.”
My biggest take away was “brag on yourself.”
That is not something I excel at, and I booked a free consult with the presenter, to explore this topic further.
Another valid takeaway, for many, was to get your priorities in line with your goals and values. This is something I speak about often, so not new information, for me. However, I was to express the importance of what you say and what you do matching up. If you tell people “family first” then you should be putting family things before business things. If not, your priorities and not aligning with your values.
As business women, we can sometimes get absorbed in our work, and the family piece can fall to the wayside. That’s all well and good, if the business is your priority. It’s when our priorities and our values get out of whack that we begin to struggle with work/life balance.
I suggest, before the craziness of the holidays arrives,
that you sit down and look at the things you need to do, and want to do, (and even the things you don’t want to do). Writing them down helps. Determine what lines up with your personal values. Then set out to putting those items into order of importance and make a plan to get them done.
Remember to have some time for yourself in there.
You are no good to anyone else if you are running on empty. Make moments that fill your cup, the overflow onto others.
Here’s looking forward to a great, strong, and fun rest of the year!
