It’s Your Life, Live it.

Updated: Mar 29, 2023

It’s your life, live it.

So many things come into my mind with this title.

It started with this comment from John Hagee Ministries, “Two groups of people exist: those who make good and those who make excuses. When we blame someone else for our failure, we empower that person to control us. If we do not take control of our lives, someone else will.”

Which led me to this picture:

It also brought a recent incident to mind. I had someone lecture me about wearing a mask when masking was an option. I had already been teetering and considering no longer wearing, but we were in a crowd, and I felt more comfortable. It’s amazing that #maskshaming and #vaccineshaming have become a thing. Thanks, #Covid19. Anyway, I told my husband about it and, as the wonderful man he is, he wanted to confront the person because I felt harassed. However, being the strong woman I am, I asked him not to do that. You see, letting that person know they “got to me” would give that person control over me, and THAT was not going to happen. So, nothing came of it and life moved on. All of this to say, how we react to situations may determine the outcome.

The other piece of this is “blaming others.” Whether it’s failures, reactions, or successes, we must own up to our actions.

  • If you failed at something, it’s not the end of the world. Accept responsibility for it and do better next time.

  • Did you overreact? Own up to it, apologize and seek to react in a more calm/peaceful manner.

  • Great success is seldom achieved alone. Absolutely thank those who helped you along the way but take credit for the actions you took to get you there.

Each of us is in control of our lives. Yes, there are situations we may not be in control of, but how we act in those circumstances is certainly up to us. We make choices every day. We must choose to step into each moment positively moving forward.
