What is Your Level of Commitment

There are many definitions for the word “commitment”. I like this one best – a pledge or promise; obligation. With any decision, that is lasting, there is a level of commitment that is made.

Let’s consider for a moment…

  • Graduation from school

  • Marriage

  • Children

  • Careers

  • Volunteering

  • Financial freedom

The list is truly endless. Anything that you desire, if you want to continue to do/have it into the future, there is a level of commitment involved.

If you are frustrated with something going on in your life and ready to make a change, let’s look at the level of commitment you are willing to put into it.

Is this going to be a lifetime change for you or are you looking for a quick fix? There is a difference.

Commitment can be difficult to maintain. If you are willing to always (okay yes, there are days you’re just going to slip and slack, but in the back of your mind, you know how to get back on track) stay on top of your (fill in the blank) and not go back to allowing things to backtrack to such overwhelming proportions that you feel you will never get back to the organized state you had, then you have a pretty good level of commitment going on. This is the person who wants to become committed to change and will have success at it.

If you want to get started on something, stay with it for a while, until something comes along to distract you from it and your (whatever it is) becomes too much of a task or hassle to continue, your level of commitment is questionable. This person will struggle with staying on task, until they are ready to take the next step and become truly committed to the change/goal they desire.

Make the decision to change, become committed to it, and you will see long term results.

Is there something in your life that you want to change? Do you desire a different future than the one you see now? Do you have unrealized dreams? Maybe you have taken a look at yourself and said, “what happened, this is NOT who I wanted to be”.

You have the ability to have a different future. You don’t have to feel stuck in your current situation.
