Self-motivation can be difficult

Do you sometimes wake up in the morning and dread getting up to go do… whatever? Do you wish you could change things? Have you tried, but can’t seem to quite manage it?

I’m sure everyone is familiar with the Nike slogan – “Just Do It”. Well, they have a point. Although, it’s not as easy as it sounds.

Have you made attempts at doing something differently, or know of people who have, only to have it last for a little while and then – WHAM – right back to the way things used to be? Of course, we all have experienced this either personally, or through someone we know. How frustrating to be on the road to success and then the find yourself in a cul-de-sac of the same ol’ thing.

Often, we have the best intentions. We know we need to do something different to have a better outcome. We even tell people “I know I need to do that and I’m going to. I’m going to turn this around.” Yet, we never seem to get to it. Nothing ever seems to change. All good intentions, with no follow through; we see it a lot.

Here are a few steps to point you in a “new direction”…

  • Have a positive attitude

  • Believe in yourself

  • Hang around positive people who encourage you to be your best

  • Have goals that stretch you, but are achievable

  • Put your goals in writing

  • Make a plan to reach your goals

  • Do the action steps you have decided on

  • Get an accountability partner

  • Be willing to change

Life does not have to be stressful or disappointing! You can make the change you desire! The key is – you have to want to do it and be willing to put the work in to make those changes.
